Decker Named to All-Rookie Squad

Annapolis, Md. – First-year Paige Decker (Clarksville, Md./River Hill) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland women's lacrosse team bolstered her first-year resume yet again with a spot on the 2012 All-Rookie Squad as selected by SynapseSports.com.  The website posted the All-Rookie list on Tuesday afternoon.  Decker is the only Capital Athletic Conference rookie named to the list.

In addition to her All-Rookie Squad selection, Decker was named to the 2012 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Chesapeake Region Second Team last Friday and second team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors on May 3.  As a dual-sport athlete, she also earned the CAC Co-Rookie of the Year award in field hockey this past fall.

The 5-8 defender paced the league this season in caused turnovers with 40 while ranking 14th in Division III with a 2.35 average.  Decker also ranked third in the conference in ground balls with a team-best 54.  She scored four goals and grabbed three draw controls to help out offensively as well.  Decker hustled to a season-best seven ground balls twice while forcing four turnovers four times.

St. Mary's ended the 2012 campaign with an 8-9 (4-4 CAC) record for fifth in the regular-season conference standings.
