Fallon-Oben, Parker, Mirkin Snatch Up All-Region Honors

The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association honored 224 Division III student-athletes with a selection to one of the seven all-region squads for 2010 as announced Thursday afternoon.  Senior Nora Fallon-Oben (Silver Spring, Md./St. John's College [D.C.]), first-year Lauriann Parker (Woodbine, Md./Glenelg) and junior Aubrey Mirkin (Ashton, Md./Sherwood) represented St. Mary's College of Maryland on the All-Chesapeake Region Women's Lacrosse Teams.

Fallon-Oben and Parker both earned first team nods while Mirkin nabbed a second team selection.

Nora Fallon-Oben Fallon-Oben continues to reap postseason honors after experiencing a career-best campaign in 2010.  Two weeks ago, the 5-8 attacker picked up her first all-conference selection with a second team pick.  She wrapped up her senior season as the team's second-leading scorer with 48 goals and 66 points while coming in with a third-best 18 assists.  Fallon-Oben led the Seahawks in caused turnovers with 23 while adding 27 draw controls and 25 ground balls.  She owns the school's second-best single-game records for most goals and points in a game following her 8-goal, 10-point effort against Virginia Wesleyan College on March 23.  Fallon-Oben ranks fourth in the Capital Athletic Conference in goals per game (2.67), sixth in points per game (3.67) and ninth in assists per game (1.00).

Lauriann Parker The 2010 CAC Rookie of the Year, Parker picked up a first team All-CAC selection after notching a stellar rookie season.  She finished as the team's leading scorer with team-highs of 49 goals and 82 points along with a second-best 33 assists.  The 5-7 midfielder also contributed 38 draw controls, 30 ground balls, and 16 caused turnovers.  Parker set school single-game records for most goals and points in a game following a 9-goal, 12-point performance at Christopher Newport University on May 1.  She finished the 2010 season ranked in NCAA Division III in assists (34th), points (42nd), and assists per game (47th).  Parker ranked in the top 5 in the conference in points per game (3rd, 4.56), goals per game (3rd, 2.72), and assists per game (4th, 1.83) while leading the league with five game-winning goals.

Aubrey Mirkin Mirkin also registered her first all-conference nod with a second team selection after leading the team in both draw controls (49) and ground balls (43).  The 5-6 midfielder averaged 2.72 draw controls per game to rank second in the league.  She contributed to the Seahawks' offensive success well, finishing her junior campaign as the team's fourth-leading scorer with 31 goals and eight assists.

St. Mary's finished the 2010 campaign with a 9-9 overall record, taking third in the league with a 5-2 mark.  For the second year in a row, the Seahawks were knocked out of the CAC tournament in the semifinal round by University of Mary Washington.
