Lauren Carrier was voted by the Capital Athletic Conference coaches as the 2009 CAC Player of the Year following Mondays announcement by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, of this years all-conference teams. St. Marys had five players receive either a first- or second-team nod.

Carrier Nabs Final SMCM Athlete of the Month Selection
Lauren Carrier, a member of the St. Marys College of Maryland womens lacrosse team, picked up the final 2008-09 St. Marys Athlete of the Month selection as Carrier received the honor for the month of April as voted on by the Department of Athletics and Recreation. The senior captain led the Seahawks to a 3-2 record (2-1 CAC) in the month of April.

Face-guarded for most of the first stanza by a Washington College defender, Carrier utilized a pick by one of her St. Mary's (Md.) teammates and broke free in front of the goal. She collected a pass from Kelsey Branch and beat the goalie to give the Seahawks a 6-3 lead.

The St. Marys College of Maryland Department of Athletics & Recreation is complete once again as Scott Devine, the director of athletics & recreation, announced today that Kara Reber has been selected as the new head coach for the Seahawk womens lacrosse program effective August 25.
