Fredericksburg, Va. – Senior captain Olivia Nowlin (Glenelg, Md./Glenelg) claimed the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor for the week of December 18.
Nowlin was selected as the CAC Player of the Week for the first time in her career after tallying a season-best 16 points to help St. Mary's College of Maryland snap a four-game skid with a 53-48 road win over Gallaudet University on Sunday.
The 5-5 guard shined in the fourth quarter, recording eight points and two steals down the stretch to help seal the five-point victory. Nowlin sparked an 11-2 run for the Seahawks with five straight points and a steal, propelling her team to their biggest lead of the game, 53-46, with 35 seconds left in the game. She capped the run by making the second of two free throws.
Nowlin also sank a season-high seven free throws, shooting 7-for-9 from the line, and added a season-best three steals and three rebounds in the win.
She is currently second on the team with 1.9 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game while ranking third with 5.1 rebounds per game and fourth with 7.3 points per game.
St. Mary's (3-6) will be back in action on Friday, December 29 when the Seahawks welcome Penn State Behrend (3-6) to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena. Tip-off is 2:00 p.m.
