Lebanon Valley Remains Undefeated with Win over St. Marys
Annville, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College extended its win streak to seven straight with a 67-58 non-conference victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland Saturday afternoon as the Flying Dutchmen had three players finish in double digits.
St. Mary's (2-7) raced out to a 6-0 advantage behind four points from senior guard Stephanie Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md./Elizabeth Seton) but a 12-4 run by Lebanon Valley was all the home team needed to gain control of the contest. Nineteen turnovers plagued the Seahawks in the first half as LVC capitalized with 15 points to boast a 34-18 halftime lead.
Junior Suzie Noyes (Princeton, N.J./Hopewell Valley) paced the Flying Dutchmen (7-0) with 14 points, three rebounds, two steals and two assists while junior Eryn Schultz (Pottstown, Pa./Pottsgrove) added a dozen points on 3-of-5 shooting from downtown. Freshman forward Liz Borgia (Scranton, Pa./Scranton) contributed 10 points and a team-best six rebounds off the bench.
The Seahawks outscored LVC, 40-33, and shot 50% from the floor in the second half but it was not sufficient to climb out of their first half hole and the visitors dropped a nine-point decision.
Saint-Aubin finished with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-18 shooting, including going 5-of-5 from the free throw line, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Junior guard Jamie Roberts (Rockville, Md./The Barrie School) tallied a season-best 18 points along with a season-high three assists while senior center Alex Wenger (Baltimore, Md./Perry Hall) hauled in a game-best 10 caroms.
The Seahawks will enjoy a short recess before returning to the court in the New Year as St. Mary's will face Juniata College on January 2, 2010 in non-conference action at 6:00 pm.
