Scott Named Co-CAC Player-of-the-Week

York, Pa. - Capital Athletic Conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, announced Monday afternoon the first CAC Women's Basketball Player-of-the-Week of the 2008-09 season. Winning the first weekly award of the year was St. Mary's College of Maryland's senior Allie Scott (Laurel, Md./Atholton) and freshman Katie Wimmer of the University of Mary Washington.
Scott earned all-tournament team honors at St. Mary's (1-1) own Cherry Cove/Seahawk Tip-Off Tournament after averaging 19.0 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game.
In a 75-48 win over Ramapo College, the 5-10 forward shot .538 (7-of-13) from the floor as Scott tallied a team-best 15 points. She also grabbed nine rebounds in the win.
Scott followed up Saturday's performance with a season-best 23 points on 9-of-20 shooting, including a career-high three long-range shots, in a 62-55 loss to Susquehanna University in the championship game.
She finished the weekend shooting .485 (16-of-33) from the field, including .500 (4-of-8) from downtown.
