Lesesne, Saint-Aubin Picked as St. Mary’s January Athletes-of-the-Month

St. Mary's City, Md. - Tyson Lesesne (Edgewood, Md.) of the men's basketball team and Steph Saint-Aubin (Bowie, Md.) of the women's basketball team were selected by the St. Mary's College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation as the January Athletes-of-the-Month.

This is Lesesne's second selection for athlete-of-the-month as he earned the honor in November.  The Seahawks finished with a 3-5 overall record in January, including a 3-3 mark in Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) action.

The 6-0 senior guard averaged 17.4 points per game and recorded a team-high 16 steals.  He also posted a field goal percentage of .459 (50-109), including a three-point field goal percentage of .400 (20-50).  Lesesne was third in assists with 20 and rebounds with 4.0 per game.

In the Seahawks' 86-83 road win at Gallaudet University, Lesesne exploded for a season-high 30 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field, including scoring the team's last six points of the game in a 1:20 span to break a 79-79 tie.

A 5-5, sophomore guard, this is Saint-Aubin's second straight pick as an athlete-of-the-month as she garnered a selection in December.  The Seahawks ended January with a 5-4 overall record in January, including a 2-4 mark in CAC action.

The Elizabeth Seton High School product led St. Mary's with a 16.3 scoring average, a .466 field goal percentage, and 36 steals, while being second with a 7.8 rebounding average.  Saint-Aubin scored in double digits in all but one contest, including three 20+ games, and registered four double-doubles during the month.

She tallied a game-high 27 points as Saint-Aubin only missed a pair of field goals, going 10-for-12 from the field in the Seahawks' 101-26 win over Gallaudet.  In that same game, she was perfect from the charity stripe with a 6-for-6 effort and also hauled in seven rebounds.

In a 73-58 win over Wesley College, Saint-Aubin had a double-double on a career- and game-high 12 boards and 10 points.
