ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - St. Mary's College of Maryland sailing had a strong showing in the opening weekend of the spring season. The Seahawks competed in the Old Dominion Spring Women's Interconference and the George Washington Team Race on Saturday (Mar. 2) and Sunday (Mar. 3).

Katherine Bennett and Sophia Taczak won the B division in the Old Dominion Spring Women's Interconference and the Seahawks finished second overall (three points out of first) out of 13 teams.

In the George Washington Team Race, the coed team of Liam McCarthy, Josh Paper, Leo Boucher, Lewis Cooper, Kasey McCallion, Ashley Wagner, and Lydia McPherson-Shambarger finished third, which puts the Seahawks in the top six of their league and helps qualify the Seahawks for conference championships at the end of the season.

The Seahawks will be back in action Saturday (Mar. 9) and Sunday (Mar. 10) when they host the St. Mary's Team Race Interconference and travel to Annapolis for the Navy Women's Spring Interconference.
