First National Rankings Released by Sailing World

Middletown, R.I. – The first national rankings for the Fall 2011 season was released Thursday afternoon and St. Mary's College of Maryland was ranked seventh on the women's side.  The coed team earned 213 points to be ranked ninth.  Sailing World's college rankings, sponsored by Sperry Top-Sider, are determined by an open coaches' poll and are based on results through September 11.

Last weekend, St. Mary's finished fifth at the Riley Cup hosted by Old Dominion University while sophomore John Wallace (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Petersburg Catholic) took third at the Laser South hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy to advance to the MAISA Singlehanded Championships on October 8-9.  The Seahawks were also 12th at the Harry Anderson Trophy at Yale University.

St. Mary's will be in action this weekend, September 17-18, at the Nevins Trophy hosted by USMMA Kings Point (N.Y.), the Hatch Brown Intersectional at MIT, and the Central #1 at Toms River Yacht Club (N.J.).
