Austin, Texas – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland sailing team wrapped up its 2011-12 season with a second-place finish at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association/APS Team Race National Championship on Lake Travis in Austin, Texas on June 3-5.

St. Mary’s City, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation celebrated the 2011-12 academic year on Tuesday night with the annual athletics reception. Each of the Seahawks’ 17 varsity teams as well as college administrators and athletics staff attended the event.

The seventh-ranked St. Mary’s College of Maryland sailing team fared well at the Navy Fall Intersectional in Annapolis this weekend as the Seahawks finished sixth in the 18-team field.

Third National Rankings Released by Sailing World
The third national rankings for the fall 2011 season were released Thursday afternoon and St. Mary’s College of Maryland was ranked seventh on the coed side while the women’s team moved up one spot to eighth. Sailing World’s college rankings, sponsored by Sperry Top-Sider, are determined by an open coaches’ poll and are based on results through October 9.

First National Rankings Released by Sailing World
The first national rankings for the Fall 2011 season was released Thursday afternoon and St. Mary’s College of Maryland was ranked seventh on the women’s side. The coed team earned 213 points to be ranked ninth. Sailing World’s college rankings, sponsored by Sperry Top-Sider, are determined by an open coaches’ poll and are based on results through September 11.
