No. 2 St. Mary’s Takes Second at Own Intersectional

St. Mary's City, Md. - Third-ranked Boston College wins tiebreaker to capture the St. Mary's College of Maryland Team Race Intersectional (March 14-15).  BC and No. 2 St. Mary's both finished the weekend with a 10-2 record, requiring Sunday's sail-off.

The Eagles and SMCM were tied after two round robins with an 8-1 mark to advance to the final four round.  Joining BC and the Seahawks were No. 1 Georgetown University (7-2) and No. 6 College of Charleston (6-3).  BC lost to St. Mary's, while the Seahawks suffered a loss to Georgetown.

BC and the Seahawks again equaled each other's performances with a 2-1 mark in the final four round for their 10-2 logs, while Georgetown also went 2-1 for an overall 9-3 record.  Charleston was 0-3 in the finals to finish 6-6.

Juniors Jesse Kirkland (Warwick, Bermuda) and Ted Hale (Annapolis, Md.) and sophomore Michael Menninger (Newport Beach, Calif.) skippered for the Seahawks with crew Franny Kupersmith (So./Alexandria, Va.), Kelly Wilbur (Jr./Ipswich, Mass.), Maddie Jackson (So./Bainbridge Island, Wash.), and Caitlin Hill (Jr./Tiverton, R.I.).
