Swain Earns Co-CAC Male Runner of the Week Honors

York, Pa. - Dan Swain (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall) of the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's cross country team became the first Seahawk in the program's young history to be selected the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week as announced by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, earning the weekly honor for the week ending September 23.

The 5-10 freshman guided the Seahawks to their first top-three team finish in just their second meet of the 2009 inaugural season, placing second out of five teams at the York (Pa.) College Invitational I this past Saturday.

Swain ran the 8,000-meter course in 27:38.95 to place second, just under a minute off the winning pace of 26:42.30 set by Sean Trott of Lancaster Bible College.  He has been the Seahawks' top finisher in the team's first two meets thus far.

The Seahawks will return to action next Saturday, September 26 at the Don Cathcart Invitational hosted by Salisbury University in Salisbury, Md.  The race will begin at 10:00 a.m.
