Hilton Head Island, S.C. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team came into Thursday's match against the Edgewood College Eagles on a two-match win streak and extended it to three with a 6-3 victory in their final match at the PTR Spring TennisFest.

The Seahawks started off the day in doubles matches, going a perfect 3-for-3 to take a 3-0 advantage over the Eagles (4-7).

At No. 1 doubles, senior captain Mark Hardesty (Westminster, Md./Westminster) and sophomore Connor McKissick (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) came out hot for the Seahawks against EC's junior Brian Davenport (Fitchburg, Wis./Verona) and senior Austin Papenthien (Madison, Wis./Edgewood) to gain the first point of the day, winning 8-4.

As the day moved into the singles matches, Hardesty continued his solid play against Papenthien, posting a 6-3, 6-4. The Eagles would not go out quietly as they split the Seahawks in the rest of the singles matches.

In the No. 2 singles match, senior captain Robert Bishop (Hollywood, Md./Great Mills) went into a three-set thriller with Davenport. Davenport eventually rallied for the win, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5.

With the win, the Seahawks moved to 5-4 on the year and will take on Capital Athletic Conference foe, York College of Pennsylvania, at the Somerset Tennis Complex this Saturday, March 19 at 12:00 p.m.
