Seahawks Put Forth Solid Effort in Loss to Maryland
College Park, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s tennis team competed against Division I University of Maryland Sunday afternoon and suffered a 6-0 setback.
Sophomore Thomas Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) was able to take a game away from first-year Tommy Laine (Turku, Finland/Katedralskolan Abu) in a 6-1, 6-0 loss to Laine, who is ranked No. 122 in Division I, at No. 1 singles.
Senior Sam Barton (Edgewater, Md./Key) claimed a game as well in a 6-0, 6-1 loss to first-year Sergio Wyss (Zurich, Switzerland/German School of Washington) at the No. 2 singles flight.
St. Mary’s will be back in action tomorrow as the Seahawks travel to College Park to face the University of Maryland Terrapins at 1:00 pm.
