St. Mary’s Starts League Action with Win
St. Mary’s City, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s tennis team opened up Capital Athletic Conference action Wednesday afternoon with an 8-1 victory over Wesley College.
Senior Kenny Nugent (Pocomoke, Md./Pocomoke) is still undefeated at No. 4 singles with his 6-4, 6-4 victory over sophomore Nick Barr (Washington, D.C./Hargrave Military Academy) while sophomore Jeff Levy improved to 2-0 with an 8-0 win over first-year Evan Day (Sewell, N.J./St. Joseph’s Prep) at the No. 5 singles.
Nugent partnered with senior Sam Barton (Edgewater, Md./Key) to notch their fourth win in a row at No. 2 doubles with an 8-2 victory over the tandem of Barr and first-year Pat Slinka (Sicklerville, N.J./St. Joseph’s Prep).
St. Mary’s will be back in action this Saturday with matches against No. 21 Salisbury University and the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore.
