St. Mary’s Blows by Chowan in First Match of Season

Virginia Beach, Va. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team easily picked up its first victory of the 2009-10 campaign as the Seahawks notched an 8-1 win over Chowan College Friday afternoon at the Virginia Wesleyan College Beach Shootout.

In his collegiate debut, freshman Arvin Wong (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) tallied a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jordin Owens at No. 2 singles.

St. Mary's will return to action tomorrow for the final day of the VWC Beach Shootout.  The Seahawks will face host Virginia Wesleyan at 9:00 am and Southern Virginia University at 3:00 pm.
