Hoesman Earns CAC Player-of-the-Week Honors

York, Pa. - Tom Byrnes, the Capital Athletic Conference commissioner, released the CAC tennis weekly honors Tuesday afternoon and the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's tennis team had Thomas Hoesman (Ellicott City, Md./Howard) named co-CAC Player-of-the-Week for the week ending March 15.

Hoesman helped the high-flying Seahawks (9-3) sweep all three of their Pennsylvania opponents this past weekend.

The 6-0 freshman won all three of his matches at No. 4 singles to improve to 8-2 on the year.  Hoesman notched an 8-0 win over Lincoln (Pa.) University's Stephen Sangster, a 7-5, 6-1 triumph over Gwynedd-Mercy College's Lou Vessels, and a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Misericordia University's Kyle Capozzi.

Hoesman then teamed up with freshman Robbie Bourdon (Huntingtown, Md./Huntingtown) to capture all three of their matches at No. 3 doubles.  The duo shutout Lincoln, 8-0 followed by an 8-4 win at Gwynedd-Mercy and an 8-5 victory at Misericordia.  The pair is 8-0 on the season thus far, tying the team lead for doubles wins.

St. Mary's will return to action in 10 days when the Seahawks open up conference play in Frederick, Maryland against Hood College on Thursday, March 26 at 3:30.
