Seahawk Men Finish Third at CACs for Second Straight Year
St. Mary's City, Md. - University of Mary Washington's junior Stephen Clendenin (Ashburn, Va.) repeated as the Capital Athletic Conference Male Swimmer of the Year while third-year UMW head coach Matt Sellman earned his third consecutive CAC Men's Swim Coach of the Year honor as Mary Washington captured its tenth consecutive CAC men's swimming championship title.
Freshman Nick Eckhoff (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) helped the Eagles sweep the individual awards as Eckhoff was named the CAC Rookie of the Year.
Mary Washington won the conference title with 984 points as the Eagles have now won 16 of 20 possible CAC crowns. As the championship meet host, St. Mary's College of Maryland finished third in the team standings for the second consecutive season with 390, edging Salisbury University by one point.
Clendenin set a CAC championship meet record in the 200 backstroke with an NCAA provisional time of 1:52.39, breaking his own mark of 1:54.03 that Clendenin set as a freshman. Eckhoff posted an NCAA ‘B' cut as well in the same event with his second-place time of 1:53.63.
Clendenin picked up a second NCAA provisional time as he captured the 200 butterfly in 1:53.37. Teammate senior Jason McCormack (Fairfax Station, Va./Hayfield) notched an NCAA ‘B' cut as well with his second-place time of 1:54.24.
St. Mary's junior captain Jackson Webb (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) recorded his second career school record in the 200 butterfly as Webb finished sixth in 1:58.22, surpassing his own mark of 1:59.60 which earned him fourth-place at last year's championships.

Freshman Evan Wollman (Annapolis,
Md./DeMatha Catholic) earned his first career first team All-CAC
award as Wollman out-touched Mary Washington's
senior Matt DeMarr (Springfield, Va./W.
Springfield) for first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:11.75.
Junior captain Nico Pinto (Lima, Peru) picked up a fourth-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:03.13.
The Seahawks finished fifth in the 400 free relay as Webb, Page, Michael, and DeBoissiere swam a 3:20.16.
Freshman Billy DeBoissiere (Columbia, Md./Atholton) was St. Mary's top finisher in the 1650 freestyle with his sixth-place finish in 17:28.05 while sophomore Ron Michael (Sykesville, Md./McDonogh) came in 11th in 18:14.38.
Sophomore Joe Kelly (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) placed 11th in the 200 butterfly in 2:07.06 while junior Aaron Page (Keene, N.H./Keene) notched a 16th-place finish in the 100 freestyle in 51.55.
