Seahawk Men Third after First Day of CAC Championships
St. Mary's City, Md. - The University of Mary Washington men's swim team captured four of five events as the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Men's and Women's Swimming Championships commenced Friday evening with timed finals at St. Mary's College of Maryland. The traditional morning preliminary trials were cancelled because of the record snowfall that crippled parts of the Mid-Atlantic region, allowing the six visiting teams to organize safe travel to Southern Maryland.
Looking for its 16th overall and 10th straight conference title, Mary Washington posted a commanding lead in the seven-team standings with 263 points. Host St. Mary's is third after the first day of action with 120 points.
TEAM STANDINGS: 1. Mary Washington 263, 2. York (Pa.) 179, 3. St. Mary's (Md.) 120, 4. Marymount (Va.) 100, 5. Salisbury 85, 6. Gallaudet 64, 7. Hood 58.
