No. 12 Johns Hopkins Gets Past St. Marys
Baltimore, Md. - No. 12 Johns Hopkins University claimed the first eight events in posting a 126-58 non-conference victory over the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team Friday evening.
Johns Hopkins (3-4) had seven different swimmers capture first-place finishes while senior John Thomas (Montrose, Colo./Montrose) broke the pool record in the 100 backstroke with his time of 51.34.
Freshman Billy DeBoissiere (Columbia, Md./Atholton) touched the wall first for the Seahawks (4-4) in the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.01.
Junior captain Jackson Webb (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) finished second in the 100 butterfly in 56.87 while taking fourth in the 500 freestyle in 22.73.
Junior captain Nico Pinto (Lima, Peru) and sophomore Joe Kelly (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) joined DeBoissiere and Webb in leading St. Mary's to a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:47.22).
Junior Aaron Page (Keene, N.H./Keene) notched two fourth-place finishes in the 200 individual medley in 2:15.79 and the 100 freestyle in 52.64.
Kelly finished fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.99 while Pinto came in fourth in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.08.
The Seahawks hope to snap their four-meet losing skid tomorrow (January 23) when St. Mary's welcomes Salisbury University to the ARC Aquatics Center for its regular-season finale at 1:00 pm.
