Seahawks Drop League Decision to No. 21 Mary Washington
St. Mary's City, Md. - No. 21 University of Mary Washington notched a 162-41 victory over St. Mary's College of Maryland in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon as the Eagles captured 10 of 11 events.
Sophomore Austin Clark (Springfield, Va./Texas Permian Basin) and freshman Nick Eckhoff (Williamsburg, Va./Jamestown) each registered two individual first-place wins to pace Mary Washington (6-1, 5-0 CAC) while Eckhoff swam the lead on the winning 400 medley relay.
Freshman Billy DeBoissiere (Columbia, Md./Atholton) recorded the Seahawks (4-3, 2-2 CAC) only first-place finish as DeBoissiere touched the wall first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:16.60. He picked up a second-place finish as well in the 200 individual medley (2:05.63) while placing third in the 100 freestyle (51.42).
Junior captain Jackson Webb (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) took third in the 50 freestyle in 22.63 while fellow team captain Nico Pinto (Lima, Peru) came in third in the 200 backstroke in 2:11.57.
The foursome of sophomore Ron Michael (Sykesville, Md./McDonogh) and freshmen Logan Riley (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), Michael Rush (Boyds, Md./Poolesville) and Chris Coghill (Jefferson, Md./Brunswick) placed third in the 400 free relay in 3:47.68.
The Seahawks will return to the pool next Friday, January 22 when St. Mary's travels to Baltimore to take on No. 12 Johns Hopkins University in non-conference action at 4:00 pm.
