Seahawks Suffer First Loss of Season

Chestertown, Md. - Washington (Md.) College handed the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team its first loss of the season as the Shoremen (2-1) posted a 108-93 victory over St. Mary's (4-1) in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Billy DeBoissiere (Columbia, Md./Atholton) was the Seahawks' big winner, notching three gold medals to remain undefeated in his respective events.  DeBoissiere captured the 1000 freestyle in 10:32.57 while touching the wall first in the 500 free in 5:04.85.  He was also first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.08.

Junior captain Jackson Webb (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) was St. Mary's only other individual winner as Webb won the 50 freestyle in 22.79.  He also finished second in the 100 butterfly (56.90) while anchoring the second-place 200 medley relay.

Joining Webb on the second-place 200 medley relay was freshman Jesse Stottlemyer (Hagerstown, Md./Smithsburg), junior Aaron Page (Keene, N.H./Keene), and sophomore Joe Kelly (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) as the Seahawks swam a 1:45.63.

Stottlemyer nabbed a second-place in the 200 freestyle (1:58.00) and the 100 backstroke (57.65) while Page was second in the 200 individual medley (2:13.30) and the 100 freestyle (53.05).

The quartet of freshman Logan Riley (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck), sophomore Ron Michael (Sykesville, Md./McDonogh), freshman Chris Coghill (Brunswick, Md./Brunswick), and junior Kalvin Day (Hagerstown, Md./N. Hagerstown) took second in the 200 free relay in 1:41.65.

The Seahawks will be back in the pool next Saturday, November 21 when St. Mary's welcomes York (Pa.) College to the ARC Aquatics Center for Capital Athletic Conference action at 1:00 pm.
