St. Mary’s Athletic Department Announces End-of-the-Year Award Winners
As the 2008-09 academic year comes to a close, the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation handed out its annual end-of-the-year awards Tuesday afternoon. Emily Smithson, Sarah Grady, Bobby Wiley, Lauren Carrier, and Camontae Griffin were all recognized for their efforts on the academic and athletic fronts.

St. Mary’s Notches Third-Place Finish at CACs
The University of Mary Washington men’s swim team captured the program’s 15th Capital Athletic Conference championship title and ninth straight Sunday night as the three-day 2009 CAC Men’s & Women’s Swimming Championships came to a close.

Seahawk Men Remain in Third at CAC Championships
Senior Michael Preston notched his third individual school record to help St. Mary’s College of Maryland stay in third place after second day of action at the 2009 Capital Athletic Conference Men’s & Women’s Swimming Championships hosted by St. Mary’s. Competition started yesterday and will run until tomorrow night when the team champion is crowned.

Four Capital Athletic Conference championship records fell in the first day of action at the 2009 CAC Men’s & Women’s Swimming Championships hosted by St. Mary’s College of Maryland from today until Sunday, February 15 when the team champion will be crowned.

Seahawks Drop CAC Decision at Salisbury
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s swim team closed out the regular season with a 116-89 loss at Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 2-6 overall (2-4 CAC), while Salisbury improved to 6-4 (4-2 CAC).

St. Mary’s Falls at Mary Washington
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s swim team suffered a 157-48 setback at the University of Mary Washington Saturday afternoon in a Capital Athletic Conference meet. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 2-5 overall (2-3 CAC), while Mary Washington improved to 4-1 (4-0 CAC).

St. Mary’s Takes Seventh at the F&M Invitational
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s swim team wrapped up competition at the two-day, eight-team Franklin & Marshall College Invitational with 228 points for a seventh-place finish. Senior Michael Preston guided the Seahawks to their seventh-place finish by being involved in 68.9% of St. Mary’s 228 points.

The York (Pa.) College men’s swim team notched a 147-58 Capital Athletic Conference win over St. Mary’s College of Maryland as the Spartans captured nine of 11 events.

Seahawks Dominate Gallaudet; Lose Heartbreaker to Marymount (Va)
The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s swim team posted a 152-46 victory over Gallaudet University but dropped a heartbreaking 102-98 decision to Marymount (Va.) in a Capital Athletic Conference tri-meet Friday night as the Marymount-St. Mary’s score came down to the last relay.

Grace Selected as CAC Male Swimmer-of-the-Week
St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Gabe Grace became the first male swimmer of the 2008-09 season to earn Capital Athletic Conference Swimmer-of-the-Week honors for the week ending November 9 as announced Tuesday afternoon by CAC commissioner, Tom Byrnes.

The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s swim team split its season-opener with Catholic University and Hood College Saturday afternoon as the Seahawks (1-1, 1-0 CAC) notched a 142-39 win over Hood but dropped a 115-90 decision to Catholic.
