Seahawks Drop CAC Decision at Salisbury

Salisbury, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team closed out the regular season with a 116-89 loss at Salisbury University in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday afternoon. The loss dropped the Seahawks to 2-6 overall (2-4 CAC), while Salisbury improved to 6-4 (4-2 CAC).
400 SC Meter Medley Relay: The foursome of sophomores Gabe Grace (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytech) and Aaron Page (Keene, N.H./Keene), freshman Troy Kent (New Market, Md./Linganore), and senior Michael Preston (Pasadena, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) finished second in 4:22.50.
800 SC Meter Free: Senior captain Joey Quase (Montgomery Village, Md./Good Counsel) placed second in 9:41.16, while freshman Ron Michael (Sykesville, Md./McDonogh) came in fourth in 9:55.03.
200 SC Meter Free: Freshman Joe Kelly (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron) placed fourth in 2:12.35, while senior Bobby Wiley (Silver Spring, Md./Springbrook) came in fifth in 2:19.71.
50 SC Meter Free: Sophomore Jackson Webb (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) finished second in 25.86, while newcomer John Kitner took fourth in 26.81.
200 SC Meter IM: Junior Cam Buckingham (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) captured the event in 2:21.59, while Grace was third in 2:27.18 and Page fifth in 2:31.63.
200 SC Meter Fly: Webb placed first in 2:24.69, while Kelly was third in 2:26.73 and Kent fourth in 2:32.39.
100 SC Meter Free: Buckingham was second in 57.04, while Michael placed fifth in 1:00.32.
200 SC Meter Back: The Seahawks went 2-3-4 in this event as Grace led the way with his second-place finish (2:24.87) followed by sophomore Nico Pinto (Lima, Peru) in 2:25.14 and Kitner in 2:34.08.
400 SC Meter Free: Preston captured the event in 4:20.25, while Quase placed third in 4:43.39.
200 SC Meter Breast: Page was third in 2:47.82 followed by Quase in fourth (2:48.19) and Pinto in fifth (2:49.65).
400 SC Meter Free Relay: Preston, Buckingham, Kelly, and Webb swam a 3:50.14 to win the event.
The Seahawks will be back in the pool Friday-Sunday, February 13-15 for the 2009 CAC Men's and Women's Swimming Championships hosted by St. Mary's.
