Seahawks Dominate Gallaudet; Lose Heartbreaker to Marymount (Va)
St. Mary's City, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's swim team posted a 152-46 victory over Gallaudet University but dropped a heartbreaking 102-98 decision to Marymount (Va.) in a Capital Athletic Conference tri-meet Friday night as the Marymount-St. Mary's score came down to the last relay.
St. Mary's foursome of sophomores Gabe Grace (Baltimore, Md./Baltimore Polytech) and Aaron Page (Keene, N.H./Keene), freshman Troy Kent, senior Michael Preston (Pasadena, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) captured the 200 medley relay in 1:45.41.
Preston won the 200 free with a first-place time of 1:51.59, while sophomore Jackson Webb (Leonardtown, Md./Leonardtown) took second in the 50 free in 23.11.
Junior Cam Buckingham (Silver Spring, Md./Blake) came in first in the 200 IM in 2:07.77, while Grace finished second in the same event in 2:10.06. Buckingham was also second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:10.54.
Grace captured the 200 back in 2:08.15, while sophomore Nico Pinto (Lima, Peru) came in second in the same event at 2:11.99.
Page won the 200 breast in 2:27.05, while senior Joey Quase (Montgomery Village, Md./Good Counsel) was third in 2:31.75.
Quase placed second in the 500 free in 5:26.06, while taking third in the 1000 free with a time of 11:16.00.
Webb came in third in the 100 free in 51.74, while Preston, Buckingham, Kent, and Webb were second in the 200 free relay with a time of 1:31.98.
The Seahawks will be back in the pool tomorrow when St. Mary's travels to Pennsylvania to take on York (Pa.) College in a Capital Athletic Conference meet at 1:00.
