York, Pa. – First-year Khalid Balogun (Bowie, Md./Bowie) collected his first-ever Capital Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award for the week of October 17.
Balogun received CAC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling eight points in a 1-0-1 week for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's soccer team (10-2-2, 4-1-1 CAC).
The 6-4 forward began the week by scoring both goals in the 2-2 draw at No. 22 Christopher Newport University on October 11, with both as game-tying scores after the Seahawks fell behind twice.
He then had a hand in three of the four goals in the 4-0 shutout win at Wesley College this past Saturday. Balogun netted the game-winning goal before assisting on the next two.
Balogun is currently tied for fifth in the conference with 15 points while being tied for sixth in both goals (6) and assists (3).
The Seahawks, who are ranked ninth in the South Atlantic region, will be back in action on Wednesday, October 19th as St. Mary's travels to Fredericksburg, Virginia to take on the University of Mary Washington (10-3, 5-1 CAC) in conference action at 3:00 p.m. Mary Washington is eighth in the region.
