C.J. MacKinnon joins the Seahawk men's lacrosse staff for his first season as an assistant coach in 2012.  MacKinnon comes to St. Mary's with a vast lacrosse background developed as a player and coach at various levels.

His collegiate coaching experience includes a stint as the assistant head coach and defensive coordinator at NCAA Division III Colby College in Waterville, Maine as well as serving in the same position at NAIA Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Missouri.

MacKinnon honed his coaching style at several high schools as well, most recently serving as the junior varsity assistant coach for the St. Mary's Ryken High School Knights in Leonardtown, Maryland.  He also served as a varsity assistant coach at Marshfield and East Longmeadow High Schools in Massachusetts.

The Hartford, Connecticut native has strived to grow the sport of lacrosse in the New England region through his work at several Massachusetts summer camps such as Peak Performance Lacrosse Camp in Springfield.

MacKinnon graduated from Springfield College in Massachusetts in 2006 with a bachelor's of arts in communications/sports journalism and English.  He then earned his master's of arts in education at Lindenwood in 2010.
