Five St. Mary's Men's Lacrosse Players Earn All-Conference Honors

York, Pa. – The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse team had five representatives on the 2012 All-Capital Athletic Conference Men's Lacrosse Team as announced by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, Wednesday afternoon.

Senior team captain Peter Windsor (Towson, Md./St. Paul's School for Boys), junior Taylor Cook (Hollywood, Md./St. Mary's Ryken) and sophomore Tripp Trainor (Severn, Md./Gilman School) were named to the first team while juniors Patrick Mull (Fallston, Md./Fallston) and Albert Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Md./Saint John's) earned second team All-CAC honors.

A 2012 Inside Lacrosse Face-off Yearbook preseason honorable mention All-America, Windsor is now a two-time first team all-star after garnering the same award last season.  The 5-8 long-stick midfielder is second for the Seahawks with 41 ground balls and third with 21 caused turnovers while ranking 13th in the conference in caused turnovers.  He added two goals and earned the CAC Defensive Player of the Week award on March 12 as Windsor started all 16 games.  He tallied a season-best four caused turnovers three times and scooped up a season-high five ground balls twice.

During his stellar four-year career, Windsor has picked up 154 ground balls and caused 85 turnovers while adding two goals and an assist in 62 games played thus far (51 starts).

In his first year as a Seahawk, Cook is picking up first team all-star honors after being second on the team in scoring with 28 goals and 32 points.  The 5-10 midfielder ranks tied for ninth in goals and tied for 15th in points in the conference.  He notched two game-winning goals and one man-up goal while contributing 14 ground balls and three caused turnovers.  Cook has registered five hat tricks, including a season-best four goals in a 10-9 win at York College of Pennsylvania on April 7.

Trainor was the third Seahawk to pick up first team all-conference honors after sharing team honors with 22 caused turnovers and tying for second with 41 ground balls.  The 6-4 defenseman notched a season-high five caused turnovers in a 14-4 win at Frostburg State University on March 17 while hustling to five loose balls at #2 Roanoke College on February 19.  He dished his first career assist as a Seahawk in a 12-6 win over SUNY Oneonta on March 19.

Earning his first-ever postseason accolade, Mull paces the Seahawks in scoring with 48 points on 14 goals and team-best 34 assists.  The 5-9 attackman is second in the CAC in assists while ranking seventh in points.  He set a school single-game record with seven assists at Frostburg State on March 17, ending the game with eight points as Mull added a goal too.  He tallied a career-best three goals and three assists in an 18-3 win over Wesley College on April 14.

The final Seahawk to earn all-league honors was Mitchell.  The 5-10 face-off specialist won 159-of-290 face-offs for a .548 percentage, ranking second in the league in face-off wins.  He is also tied for fourth in the conference with a team-best 78 ground balls.  Mitchell added four goals and three assists as well.  He won 15-of-19 face-offs in win at York while scooping up a season-best nine loose balls in the CAC first round win over Marymount (Va.) University on April 22.

St. Mary's posted a 10-6 record (6-2 CAC) in 2012, going undefeated at Seahawk Stadium with a 7-0 mark.  The Seahawks finished third in the conference and advanced to the CAC semifinals for the fourth straight season.
