Perry, N.Y. – Senior attackman Dennis Rosson (Severna Park, Md./Severn School) reaped three postseason honors Tuesday afternoon to put the finishing touches on his stellar career as a member of the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's lacrosse program with a pair of All-America awards and a selection as a Division III North/South Senior All-Star.
John Spring, the executive director of the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association, released the All-America and Scholar All-America Teams as well as the South Team roster. In the program's 38-year history, Rosson is the 12th Seahawk to garner All-America recognition and the fifth to pick up Scholar All-America honors as he was named an honorable mention All-American at attack.
Notching a 3.492 cumulative grade-point average, he graduated from St. Mary's College on May 14 with an undergraduate degree in English. Rosson was a two-year member of Chi Alpha Sigma, the national college athlete honor society, and a multiple selection to the Dean's List.
Rosson will be playing in his last collegiate game this Friday, May 27 at the 2011 USILA/Lax World Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game at 3:00 pm at Goucher College in Towson. He will also be a guest at the USILA All-America Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Baltimore on Sunday the 29th.
Rosson is part of a 32-man roster representing the South and will be under the mentorship of Franklin & Marshall College head coach, Todd Cavallaro. He is one of six players representing the Capital Athletic Conference at the all-star game. Joining Rosson are midfielder Kohl Meyer and goalkeeper Ryan Kleman of University of Mary Washington as well as defenseman Evan Douglass, midfielder Kyle Moffitt and attackman Jimmy Dailey of Stevenson University.
Last month, Rosson, the 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year, made his fourth straight all-conference team as the 6-2 team captain was one of only two four-time all-league honorees on the 2011 All-CAC squad. However, this was the first time that Rosson earned first team honors. He paced the Seahawks with team-bests of 28 goals, 16 assists, and 44 points, ranking in the top 15 in all three categories in the CAC.
Playing all 15 games, Rosson added 16 ground balls and five caused turnovers while scoring a team-high four man-up goals. He earned the CAC Offensive Player of the Week award on April 18 after totaling 15 points (12 G, 3 A) in three games. Rosson matched a school single-game record as well as his career-high with seven goals in St. Mary's first win of the season on March 9.
He finished his outstanding four-year career with 127 goals, including 15 man-up goals, and 66 assists for 193 career points. Rosson collected 76 ground ball pickups and 13 caused turnovers as well.
St. Mary's finished the 2011 campaign with a 6-9 (4-4 CAC) record after falling to CAC runner-up, Stevenson University, in the conference semifinals.
