The St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s lacrosse team did not repeat last Friday’s performance against No. 10 Salisbury University in Thursday’s Capital Athletic Conference semifinal match-up as the third-seeded Sea Gulls eliminated No. 2 seed St. Mary’s, 18-5, to advance to the program’s 15th conference championship game.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland clinched the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye in the 2009 Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Lacrosse Tournament Friday afternoon behind the heroics of sophomore midfielder Chris Becraft who fired in the game-winner with .2 seconds on the clock to upset No. 5 Salisbury University, 11-10, in front of a crowd of 389.

The game was played at Lawrence E. Knight Stadium on the Broadneck High School campus.
