Six Seahawks Earn 2009 All-CAC Men’s Lacrosse Honors

York, Pa. - First-year head coach Chris Hasbrouck (Suffern, N.Y.) was selected as the 2009 Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Lacrosse Coach of the Year, headlining the group of six Seahawk players representing St. Mary's College of Maryland on the All-CAC teams as announced by the conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, Thursday afternoon.

Coach Hasbrouck becomes the third Seahawk mentor to earn CAC coach-of-the-year honors as Jason Hurley (1990-2001) won the honor in 1995 and 1998, while Jayme Block (2002-08) was the 2004 honoree.

Team captains Marc DiPasquale (Fallston, Md./Boys' Latin) and Ryan Alexander (Laurel, Md./Pallotti) and senior Ryder Henry (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) all received first-team nods, while senior captain AJ Armstrong (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) and sophomores Dennis Rosson (Severna Park, Md./Severn) and Pat Simpson (Arnold, Md./Broadneck) all earned a spot on the second team.

DiPasquale This is DiPasquale's second consecutive appearance on the All-CAC First Team and third all-conference honor after making the second team in 2007.  For the second straight season, he led the squad in ground balls with 63, while adding four assists.  An everyday starter, DiPasquale was St. Mary's top face-off specialist, registering a .570 (158-277) face-off percentage this season.  He was a perfect 17-of-17 in St. Mary's 17-2 win at Hood.

Alexander A three-time All-CAC First Team pick and the 2007 CAC Rookie of the Year, Alexander is tied for second on the team with 30 points on 19 goals and a second-best 11 assists.  The 6-0 midfielder scored three man-up goals and one game-winner, while scooping up 26 loose balls and causing six turnovers.  In a 9-2 win over Dickinson, Alexander matched a career-high with three assists, while registering a hat trick three times this season.

Henry Henry is earning his first-ever all-conference honor after leading the Seahawks with 18 caused turnovers and ranking third with 34 loose ball pick-ups.  The 6-3 defensive midfielder played in all 14 games with 10 starts, helping the defensive unit post a 9.29 goals against average.

Armstrong An everyday starter for the Seahawks, Armstrong is picking up his second straight All-CAC Second Team laurel.  Anchoring a defensive unit that boasted a 9.29 GAA, the 6-0 defenseman caused a second-best 13 turnovers and had 21 ground balls.

Rosson The 2008 CAC Rookie of the Year, Rosson is notching his second straight all-conference second team selection as the 6-1 attackman led St. Mary's offense for the second consecutive year with team-highs of 27 goals, 17 assists, and 44 points.  Starting all 14 games, he tallied a team-best two game-winners, scored one man-up goal and contributed 15 ground balls as well.  Rosson dished out a career-high four assists in a 17-2 win at Hood, while scoring four goals twice.

Simpson Simpson is garnering his first all-conference selection after registering a 9.50 GAA and .559 save percentage between the pipes.  The 5-6 goalie also scooped up a fourth-best 30 ground balls, while causing three turnovers.  Simpson made a season-best 20 saves in the Seahawks' 9-2 victory over Dickinson.

St. Mary's is currently 7-7 on the season and will wrap up the 2009 campaign on Saturday with a road game against Christopher Newport at 1:00.
