St. Mary’s Athletic Department Announces End-of-the-Year Award Winners

As the 2008-09 academic year comes to a close, the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation handed out its annual end-of-the-year awards Tuesday afternoon. Emily Smithson, Sarah Grady, Bobby Wiley, Lauren Carrier, and Camontae Griffin were all recognized for their efforts on the academic and athletic fronts.

Griffin Notches D3hoops.com Honors

St. Mary’s College of Maryland junior Camontae Griffin was named to the 2009 D3hoops.com All-Middle Atlantic Region as announced Thursday.

Franz, Griffin Earn All-CAC Honors

St. Mary’s College of Maryland guards Alex Franz and Camontae Griffin were both selected to the 2009 Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball All-Conference First Team as announced by league commissioner, Tom Byrnes.

Marymount Knocks Off Seahawks in OT in CAC Semifinals

Third time was the charm as the fourth-seeded Marymount (Va.) University men’s basketball team closed out the first overtime period on a 6-1 run over a 2:02-minute span to knock off the defending Capital Athletic Conference champions, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, 86-81, in the CAC semifinals Thursday night.

St. Mary’s Claim CAC Regular Season Title

Sophomore guard Alex Franz poured in a career- and game-high 23 points and dished out a game-high seven assists in leading the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team to the Capital Athletic Conference regular season title with a 79-73 victory over Wesley College Saturday afternoon.
