Junior transfer Camontae Griffin tallied a game-high 25 points in leading the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team to an 82-75 upset of NCAA Division II Bowie State University in an exhibition contest Friday night at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C.

St. Mary’s Picked as a Breakthrough Team

The reigning Capital Athletic Conference Champions, the St. Mary’s College of Maryland men’s basketball team was named a ‘possible breakthrough’ team by Chuck Mistovich of Basketball Times in the NCAA Division III featured in the 2008-09 College Basketball edition of Sporting News magazine.

Seahawks Bow Out in Sweet 16

Senior Edrick Montgomery recorded a double-double with 27 points and a career-high 20 rebounds to lead No. 14 Millsaps College to an 82-73 win over St. Mary’s College of Maryland in the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Sectional Semifinals at the WU Field House on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis on Friday, March 14. With the win, the Majors advance to the Sectional Final, where they await the winner of Friday evening’s other semifinal match between host No. 11 Washington and Buena Vista University.
