York, Pa. – Junior captain Delaszo Smith (Baltimore, Md./Annapolis) garnered his second career Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week award as Smith picked up the honor for the week ending November 27.
The 6-1 guard was named the CAC Player of the Week after guiding the St. Mary's College of Maryland to a 2-0 week with averages of 21.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 three-pointers, and 1.5 steals per contest. For the week, he shot 40.7% from the floor, including 50% from behind the three-point line, and 94.1% at the free throw line.
Smith started the week by scoring 17 points in an 88-83 non-conference road win over Gallaudet University. He connected on a season-best three triples while adding a season-high four assists and going 6-of-6 from the free throw line.
The highlight of the week came in the 91-84 victory over Greensboro College. He tallied season-bests of 26 points, seven rebounds, and three steals while shooting near perfect at the free throw line with a 10-of-11 effort.
Smith currently ranks fourth in the conference in free throw percentage (88.5) while ranking sixth in assists per game (2.8 apg), tied for seventh in steals per game (1.8 spg), and ninth in scoring (16.2 ppg).
St. Mary's opens up Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday, November 30 as the Seahawks travel to the Eastern Shore to face No. 19 Salisbury University (4-0).
