St. Mary's City, Md. – Three Seahawks scored in double digits in leading the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team to their second straight win. St. Mary's posted a 71-60 Capital Athletic Conference win over York College of Pennsylvania Wednesday evening.

Tonight's victory gave the Seahawks (16-6, 10-4 CAC) the series sweep of York (4-18, 3-11 CAC) as St. Mary's notched a 69-51 road win on January 15th.

Junior captain Nicholas LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) dropped a game-high 21 points behind a career-best five three-pointers while senior forward Brendan McFall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) tallied 14 points and six rebounds. Senior guard Donn Hill (Aberdeen, Md./Bel Air) finished with a dozen and seven boards.

The Seahawks never trailed in the contest and opened the game with a 10-0 run with five points each from LaGuerre and McFall. St. Mary's owned a double-digit lead for nearly the last five minutes of the first half and headed into halftime with a 38-24 advantage as first-year guard Gavan Scanlan (Timonium, Md./Dulaney) hit a three-pointer with under a minute to go.

LaGuerre led all scorers with 10 points as the Seahawks shot 47.1% (16-of-34) from the field, including 57.1% (4-of-7) from downtown. First-year guard Ryan Beaver (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) paced York at intermission with eight points on the strength of two three-pointers.

The Spartans didn't go down without a fight as York overcame a 15-point second-half deficit with a 20-9 run, closing the gap to 53-49 on a Beaver layup at 8:58. St. Mary's prevented the Spartans from getting any closer with a 7-0 run to rebuild a double-figure lead.

For the game, St. Mary's shot 45.8% (27-of-59) from the floor, including 9-of-16 from behind the three-point line. York was 21-of-50 (42.0%), including nearly 53% (11-of-21) in the second half, while owning a 37-30 rebounding margin.

Beaver also finished with a game-best 21 points as he went 5-of-8 from downtown while senior forward Matt McNeely (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) chipped in a dozen points and five rebounds.

St. Mary's returns to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena this Saturday, February 15th as the Seahawks host Southern Virginia University at 4:00 p.m. Prior to the start of the game, the team's four seniors – Hill, McFall, Christopher Hutchinson (Baltimore, Md./New Town), and Kyle Wise (Baltimore, Md./Calvert Hall College) – will be recognized for their contributions to the program.
