York, Pa. – Four players notched double-digit points for the St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team as the Seahawks denied York College of Pennsylvania's late rally for the 71-69 Capital Athletic Conference victory Wednesday night in front of a crowd of 1,365 in the Charles Wolf Gymnasium.

Juniors Christopher Hutchinson (Owings Mills, Md./New Town) and Jeff Haus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) each tallied 14 points for St. Mary's while combining for 11 rebounds, including eight defensive boards.

York's junior Jeremy Skoloda (Leola, Pa./Conestoga) tied the game at 67 with a three with 1:09 left in regulation.  On the Seahawks' next possession, St. Mary's ran the shot clock down to two before Hutchinson hit a layup from the left side to give his team a 69-67 lead with 36 ticks on the clock.

The Seahawks (6-2, 2-0 CAC) got a defensive stop on the Spartans' ensuing possession before junior guard Devin Spencer (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic) got fouled with 11.9 remaining and knocked down both.  Junior guard Julian Watson (Odenton, Md./Arundel) hit a layup with 6.6 to make it, 71-69.  Spencer is fouled again but misses the front end with 4.8 left.  Junior guard Mitch Kemp (York, Pa./York Suburban) hauled in the defensive rebound and heaved a three-point shot from about 35 which hits the glass but no iron as the horn blows.

Sophomore forward Christian MacAuley (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) contributed to the Seahawk win with 12 points and a game-best eight caroms while sophomore guard Brendan McFall (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) chipped in 10 points off the bench on 5-of-9 shooting.

St. Mary's shot 48.1% from the floor in the first half and never trailed in the first 20 minutes, owning its biggest lead of 28-19 following a Hutchinson three-pointer at 3:08.  The Spartans (5-3, 2-1 CAC) used an 11-2 run over a 2:40-minute span to knot the contest at 30 with 28 seconds left in the half.  Hutchinson then got fouled on a three-point shot attempt with 0.2 seconds on the clock.  He proceeded to knock down all three free throws to give his team a 33-30 advantage at halftime.

Hutchinson led all players at intermission with eight points while Haus added six points on 3-of-4 shooting as well as four rebounds.

The Seahawks will be back in action on Saturday, December 10 when St. Mary's travels to Frederick, Maryland for a league matchup at Hood College (4-3, 1-2 CAC).  Tip-off is at 4:00 pm.
