Baltimore, Md. – Junior forward Jeff Haus (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) recorded his first career double-double in helping the No. 15 St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team to third place in the 2011 Pride of Maryland Championship Tournament as the Seahawks posted a 62-57 victory over Frostburg State University Saturday evening.

Haus earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team after notching 10 points and game-best 10 rebounds off the bench for his first career double-double.  Sophomore captain Christian MacAuley (Silver Spring, Md./Paint Branch) led the Seahawk scoring contingent with 12 points while fellow team captain Devin Spencer (Baltimore, Md./Towson Catholic) contributed 11 points and first-year Nick LaGuerre (Baltimore, Md./Lansdowne) added 10.

St. Mary's (2-1) could not establish a lead bigger than four points in the first 20 minutes as the first half featured six lead changes and two tied scores.  Spencer was fouled on a three-point shot attempt and proceeded to knock down all three free throws to give the Seahawks a 24-22 lead with three minutes until halftime.

Junior DeSean Antoine (Odenton, Md./Glen Burnie) nailed a three with less than a minute remaining to return the lead to Frostburg State but LaGuerre answered for St. Mary's with a long-range shot of his own at the 18-second mark to send his team into the locker room with a 27-25 advantage.

Spencer led all players at halftime with 11 points while MacAuley and Haus hauled in a first-half best five rebounds.

Improved shooting by the Seahawks in the second half gave way to a 43-33 advantage at 12:56 as St. Mary's opened up the second stanza with a 16-8 run.  St. Mary's continued to pull away from the Bobcats and maintained a double-digit margin, leading 47-58 at 4:09.  A scrappy Frostburg team made it interesting as the Bobcats used a 10-2 run to close the gap to three with 1:34 left in the game.

Frostburg State (1-2) would not get any closer as the Bobcats missed two free throws (00:59) and a three-point attempt (00:08) before LaGuerre sealed the deal with a pair of free throws with five seconds on the clock.

The Seahawks will be back in action on Tuesday, November 22 as St. Mary's welcomes Kean University to the Michael P. O'Brien Athletics & Recreation Center Arena for non-conference action at 7:00 pm.
