Griffin Nabs Back-to-Back Pride of Maryland Player of the Week Honors
Rockville, Md. - For the second consecutive week and third time this season, Camontae Griffin (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) was named the PrestoSports/Pride of Maryland Player of the Week, earning the honor for the week ending February 7. Griffin's selection comes on the heels of his fourth Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week pick.
Griffin guided the No. 20 Seahawks (17-3, 9-2 CAC) in their only game of the week to a 91-82 overtime victory at Christopher Newport University as the 5-9 senior guard poured in a game-high 34 points. He drained 19-of-21 from the free throw line, including all 12 in the first half, and added four boards, two thefts and two assists.
St. Mary's, ranked No. 5 in the first edition of the NCAA Division III Middle Atlantic Region rankings, will be back in action tomorrow as the Seahawks will travel to Fredericksburg, Va. to face University of Mary Washington in conference action at 8:00 pm.
