St. Mary’s Moves Back into Top 20

Minneapolis, Minn. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team quickly rebounded from its third loss of the season with a pair of conference wins to help the Seahawks move back into the top 20, ranking No. 20 in the Week 9 edition of the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll as announced Monday night.

For the third consecutive week, junior guard Alex Franz (Catonsville, Md./Cardinal Gibbons) remains third in the nation in steals per game with a conference-leading 3.6 steals average.  BJ McGill of St. Vincent College averages 3.9 steals per game to lead the nation.  Franz ranks 24th in the country as well with a CAC-best 5.6 assists per game.

As a team, St. Mary's ranks 22nd in Division III in steals per game with a conference-best 10.7 average.  The Seahawks also own the 30th-best scoring margin in the country, beating their opponents by a league-leading +10.8 points.

Senior guard Camontae Griffin (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) moved up one space to 14th in the country with a league-best 21.7 points per game.  Griffin is second in the conference as well in both free throw percentage (.848) and steals (2.4 spg).
