Griffin Notches Third Conference Honor of the Season

York, Pa. - Camontae Griffin (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) was named the Capital Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time this season as Griffin nabbed the honor for the week ending January 17 as announced by league commissioner, Tom Byrnes, Monday afternoon.

Griffin averaged 21.0 points and contributed eight steals, six boards and five assists in two conference victories.  Griffin sparked St. Mary's 91-86 win over University of Mary Washington when he scored seven straight points in less than the two minutes after the Eagles closed to within one point late in the second half.

He ended the week with a game-high 21 points in a dominant 83-52 victory over Gallaudet University as Griffin matched his career-best with four three-pointers while adding a career-high seven steals.

The 5-9 senior guard shot .432 (14-of-31) from the floor, including 6-of-16 from downtown, and .800 (8-of-10) from the free throw line.

The Seahawks will be back in action this Wednesday, January 20 as St. Mary's travels to Frederick to battle Hood College for sole possession of first place in the CAC standings.  Tip-off is set for 8:00 pm and will be played at the Odom Fitness Center at Fort Detrick.
