Griffin Named PrestoSports/Provident Pride Player-of-the-Week
Rockville, Md. - The St. Mary's College of Maryland men's basketball team collected its second straight PrestoSports/Provident Pride Player-of-the-Week citation as junior Camontae Griffin (Baltimore, Md./Dunbar) earned the honor for the week ending January 18.
This is Griffin's second weekly PrestoSports/Provident Pride citation as he garnered the honor back on December 1 after being named the MVP of the Provident Pride of Maryland Division III Men's Basketball Scholarship Tournament.
He led St. Mary's to a 1-1 week as the Baltimore native averaged 26.0 points, 5.5 assists, and 3.0 steals, while shooting .475 from the floor and .750 from the charity stripe.
The 5-9 guard started the week with a game-high 27 points on 10-of-23 shooting and four assists, while going 6-of-6 at the free throw tie in a 101-97 overtime loss at York (Pa.).
Griffin ended the week with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-17 shooting along with game- and season-highs of seven assists and five steals, including the steal which forced OT with Mary Washington as the Seahawks went on to win 81-77 in overtime.
St. Mary's will be back in action this Saturday, January 24 as the Seahawks travel to Dover, Del. to face Wesley College in a key Capital Athletic Conference battle at 4:00.
