St. Mary's Seahawks Celebrate 2011-12
St. Mary’s City, Md. – The St. Mary’s College of Maryland Department of Athletics and Recreation celebrated the 2011-12 academic year on Tuesday night with the annual athletics reception. Each of the Seahawks’ 17 varsity teams as well as college administrators and athletics staff attended the event.

St. Mary's Field Hockey Season Comes to a Close
The 2011 campaign came to an end on Sunday afternoon for the St. Mary’s College of Maryland field hockey team as the fifth-seeded Seahawks suffered a 3-0 setback at No. 4 seed York College of Pennsylvania in the first round of the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Championship Tournament. St. Mary’s wraps up this season with a 6-11 record, including a 4-3 mark in league action.

Decker, Wash Earn League Player of the Week Honors
First-year forward Paige Decker and sophomore goalkeeper Ana Wash earned Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Player of the Week honors as announced Monday afternoon by CAC commissioner Tom Byrnes. Decker shared the CAC Offensive Player of the Week award with Salisbury University’s Alison Bloodsworth while Wash picked up the defensive award.

Parker Picks Up Fourth Career Athlete of the Month Award
Lauriann Parker of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland field hockey team was selected by the Department of Athletics and Recreation as the first Athlete of the Month for the 2011-12 academic year for the month of September after setting the school career goals and points record. This is the second consecutive year that Parker has kicked off the monthly awards.

In what has been a trend between the St. Mary’s College of Maryland and Washington College field hockey programs, another one-goal game was decided Thursday afternoon at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. This time, the Washington Shorewomen came out on top with a 2-1 triumph in non-conference action.
