Beladino, Hancock Lead No. 6 Salisbury in CAC Field Hockey Win

Salisbury, Md. - Beverly Beladino and Kandice Hancock combined for six of No. 6 Salisbury University's eight goals as the Sea Gulls (2-0, 2-0 CAC) blanked St. Mary's College of Maryland 8-0 in Capital Athletic Conference action Saturday night.

Hancock scored twice in the first half, while Beladino and Lauren Correll each had a goal and an assist to give Salisbury a 4-0 halftime advantage.  The Sea Gull defense held St. Mary's (1-1, 1-1 CAC) to just one shot in the opening 35 minutes of the game.

Beladino notched the first two goals of the second half within two minutes of each other to bolster the home team's lead to 6-0 at 43:21.  Correll and Hancock netted the final two goals of the evening.

Anna Cooke and Rebecca Tracey registered Salisbury's second shutout of the season as Tracey made a save in the final six minutes of action.

Junior goalie Emma Lauhoff (Wayne, Pa./Radnor) notched eight saves in 51 minutes, while freshman Hillary Wall (Bethesda, Md./Walt Whitman) finished out the final 19 minutes.

The Seahawks look to get back to their winning ways on Tuesday, September 8 when St. Mary's hosts Goucher College in non-conference action at 4:00 in Seahawk Stadium.
