Smithson Voted 2009 CAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year
Senior midfielder Emily Smithson was selected by the Capital Athletic Conference athletic directors and sports information directors as the 2009 CAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced Tuesday afternoon by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes.

Smithson Named CAC Field Hockey Co-Player-of-the-Year
Senior midfielder Emily Smithson was dubbed the Capital Athletic Conference Field Hockey Co-Player-of-the-Year as conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes, released the 2008 All-CAC Teams Friday morning. Smithson became the first-ever Seahawk to earn player-of-the-year honors as she shares this year’s honor with sophomore midfielder Kandice Hancock of Salisbury University.

St. Mary’s Advances to Second Straight CAC Title Game
The second-seeded St. Mary’s College of Maryland field hockey team eliminated third-seeded University of Mary Washington, 3-2, on a rainy Wednesday afternoon in the Capital Athletic Conference semifinal round. St. Mary’s (8-8) now advances to Saturday’s CAC championship game for the second consecutive season after the Seahawks won the stroke-off, 2-0.

Smithson Named to NFHCA Division III North/South Senior South All-Star Team
Senior midfielder Emily Smithson became just the third Seahawk in the 15-year history of the St. Mary’s College of Maryland field hockey program to be selected to play in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game. Smithson was also the only player from the Capital Athletic Conference to be named to the team.
