Louis Sheppard finds himself on familiar ground as he joins the Seahawk coaching staff for his third season in 2017. Before getting into the realm of collegiate coaching, Sheppard coached the varsity team at Leonardtown High School for two seasons underneath fellow Seahawk assistant, Drew Willard '07.

He will focus on the team's strength & conditioning program, specifically running the off- and in-season team lifts and workouts. Sheppard will also work with the outfielders and hitters.

As a graduate of Francis Scott Key High School in Union Bridge, Maryland, he will also recruit in his native Western Maryland area with focus on the Baltimore and Frederick regions.

The Westminster, Maryland native spent four years in a St. Mary's uniform between 2007 and 2010, gaining game experience as a first baseman, catcher, middle infielder, and outfielder. Sheppard recorded a .250 career batting average with 12 hits, 11 RBI, and two doubles. He also scored 10 runs in 36 games played.

A 2010 St. Mary's graduate, Sheppard earned a B.A. in History and was inducted into the Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society. He also minored both in African and African Diaspora Studies as well as Educational Studies. In 2011, Sheppard received a Master of Arts in Teaching at St. Mary’s.

He is currently in his fourth year as a history teacher at Great Mills High School, teaching A.P. American History and ninth-grade Modern U.S. History.
