How It Happened
- The two sides headed into the ninth inning knotted at 3-3.
- Junior Devin Chapman (Abingdon, Md./Harford Tech) came in as a pinch hitter for York and led off the ninth inning with a single to right field. Chapman advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt before reaching third on a Seahawk fielding error. After St. Mary's loaded the bases with an intentional walk, Chapman would score the eventual game-winning run when junior shortstop Collin Crowell (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) got hit by a pitch.
- The Seahawks opened up their half of the ninth with junior catcher Matt Bieler (Bowie, Md./Bowie) drawing a walk and Marshall laying down a bunt single. However, the rally would be cut short as sophomore RHP Will Grega (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./FDR) closed out the game with three straight strikeouts.
- St. Mary's posted the early lead with two runs in the fourth before the Spartans responded with a run in the fifth. York then claimed its first lead of the game, 3-2, with a pair of runs in the seventh followed by the Seahawks tying the game in the bottom of the seventh.
