St. Mary’s Women’s Swimming Honored for Good Grades

The president of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), George Kennedy, released today the 2009 individual and team scholar All-American lists and the St. Mary’s College of Maryland women’s swimming team was represented on both lists.

McDowell Selected as CAC’s 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year Candidate

St. Mary’s College of Maryland senior swimming All-American Brie McDowell was selected by the Capital Athletic Conference Directors of Athletics as the conference’s 2009 NCAA Woman of the Year as announced by CAC commissioner, Tom Byrnes, on June 24.

Tom Byrnes, commissioner of The Capital Athletic Conference (CAC), announced Monday morning that 920 student-athletes from the nine member institutions competing in 19 championship sports were named to the 2008-09 CAC All-Academic Team.

Senior midfielder Emily Smithson was selected by the Capital Athletic Conference athletic directors and sports information directors as the 2009 CAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year as announced Tuesday afternoon by conference commissioner, Tom Byrnes.

Carrier, Zerhusen to Play in North/South Senior All-Star Game

St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Lauren Carrier and Allie Zerhusen were both selected to play in the 2009 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association/Under Armour Division III North/South Senior All-Star Game as announced by the IWLCA over the weekend.
