Athletic Accomplishments:

Sheldon was the first St. Mary’s men’s basketball player to receive all-American honors, having been selected to the NCAA Division III Honorable Mention team as a senior. He was also the first basketball player, male or female, in thirty-five years, to be named Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Player of the Year. He ended his collegiate career with a school record of 571 field goals and single season record for rebounds (255) set during the 1999-00 season. He is still listed in school records for career points (1454) and rebounds (809).

Career Highlights:

As a sophomore, Sheldon was named second team All-CAC. In his junior year, he was named second team All-CAC for second year. He set the school record for rebounds in a season (255). He was CAC rebounding champion, with 10.2 rebounds/game. He scored his career 1,000th point and finished 4th in CAC for scoring. As a senior he was co-captain and a CAC rebounding champ for the second consecutive year, with 9.7 rebounds per game. He was named first team CAC and led the team to best record in 28 years (18-8). He helped the team equal its highest league finish at second place and set school record for most straight wins (8), most CAC wins (10) and 1st NCAA ranking ever. Sheldon ended his collegiate career as the College’s #2 for all time scoring (1454 pts); rebounding (809); and steals (157). He finished 4th in CAC in scoring; 3rd in CAC in steals; and 6th in CAC for blocked shots. He was also named to the National Associa­tion of Basketball Coaches (NABC) second team, All-Mid Atlantic Region. Shelton was named St. Mary’s Male Athlete of the Year and was the first male All-American at St Mary’s in a sport other than sailing or lacrosse. He set a school career mark for field goals (571).
