Stephanie Guzzois beginning her fourth year as a member of the St. Mary's athletic training staff in 2013-14. Guzzo also writes a column called, "Ask the Athletic Trainer" which is located on the faculty/staff website.
The Bolton, Mass., native earned her Bachelor of Science degree in exercise and sports sciences with a concentration in athletic training and a minor in child development from Colby-Sawyer College in 2007. Guzzo followed that up with a Master of Science in athletic training in 2008 from Indiana State University. While at Indiana State, Guzzo presented a case study at the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association.
She came to St. Mary's after two years as an assistant trainer at Becker College in Leicester, Mass. Guzzo served as the head trainer for Becker's football team while assisting with the other 16 Hawk sports teams.
She was a graduate assistant trainer with the football team at Indiana State and also served as a clinical instructor. Her athletic training experience wth football landed her gig with the NFL combine.
Guzzo has also presented her research on triceps surae at several conferences, including at the 2010 National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA) Free Communications Thematic Poster Presentation.
She is a member of several athletic trainers associations, including NATA and the Maryland Athletic Training Association. Guzzo volunteers her time with the NATA Convention Program Committee Project Teams as well as the NATA Proposal Review Group.
She also serves on the NATA District III Young Professional Committee as the Maryland Representative while being the committee chair of Maryland's Young Professional Committee.
Guzzo currently lives in California, Md. and in her spare time, she helps coach the Southern Maryland Ospreys, a U12 travel softball team, and a St. Mary’s County rec league team as well. Guzzo also teaches swim lessons year-round.
