Since arriving at St. Mary's in December 1999, Jim Cranmer has earned three promotions. Cranmer was named the Associate Director of Athletics & Recreation for Internal Operations in November 2017 following his promotion to Assistant Director of Athletics & Recreation for Operations and Compliance in January 2013. He picked up compliance coordinator duties for the entire athletic department during the 2003-04 academic year.

Cranmer oversees the operations of athletic communications, the equipment room, and sports medicine as well as supervising men's lacrosse and volleyball. He also coordinates travel for 17 varsity sports and manages all gameday operations.

For 2018-19, Cranmer will serve as president-elect of the Maryland/DC Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (MACDA) before taking the helm as MACDA President for 2019-20. Additionally, he was appointed to a four-year term on the NCAA Division III Interpretation and Legislation Committee in January 2016. Cranmer also represents the athletic department on the St. Mary's Staff Senate and serves as chair of the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Compliance Directors Committee.

The Temple City, Calif., native first came on board at St. Mary's as the head athletic trainer in December 1999, serving in that role until February 2013.

Cranmer went to Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif., where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for the men's and women's basketball programs from 1991 to 1993.

After leaving Humboldt State, Cranmer worked for one year at Warren High School in Downey, Calif. He then went on to work for the Los Angeles Dodgers from July 1994 until his arrival at St. Mary's. While with the Dodgers, he worked with Short Season A in Yakima, Wash.; Long Season A in San Bernardino, Calif.; and Double-A in San Antonio, Texas.
