Seahawk Athletes Facilitate Move In for New Students
St. Mary’s City, Md.
– Yesterday was a day of mixed emotions for
parents as they dropped
off their sons and daughters for the first time on the campus of
St. Mary’s College of Maryland. However, members of the
Seahawk fall varsity sport teams were on hand to ease some of the
burden by helping at New Student Move-In Thursday.
Between the hours of 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, student-athletes from
the men’s and women’s cross country, field hockey,
men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball teams assisted
the efforts of the Office of Residence Life staff by supplying
friendly smiles and helping hands in an effort to make the
transition to campus life a smooth one for the first-year
students.
The 2010-11 marks the fourth year that the St. Mary’s fall
athletes have aided in New Student Move-In. The teams helped
with move-in at the Caroline, Dorchester, Prince George's, and
Queen Anne's residence halls.
The Seahawks help the new students in other ways as well as Chelsea Bradcovich (women’s tennis), Kristin Hay (women’s cross country) and Katie Lackler (women’s tennis) are serving as Resident Assistants this year while several others are serving as Orientation Leaders.
